Dear Colleagues and Friends:

Please, join me in congratulating the inestimable, indefatigable Dr. Toyin Falola on receiving yet another prestigious honor. Professor Falola has been notified by Dr. William Head, the Chair of the Curry Award Committee, that his wonderful book, "Ibadan: Foundation, Growth and Change (Ibadan, Nigeria) has been selected to share the Cecil Curry ATWS Book Award for 2013. This is a great honor indeed!

Professor Falola was notified by the selection committee that "the competition was very intense and the selection  process was  not easy. However, [his]  entry was deemed to be of highest quality." The Award will be presented to Professor Falola at the ATWS Annual Conference to be held in December of 2013 in Chennai, India.

Congratulations, Professor Falola once again for a job well done! Pretty soon, you will need to build additional rooms on your home to have enough space for your many awards, honorary doctorates, and other forms of recognition. May God continue to pour  his blessings upon you and your family.

I joyfully join in this celebration of excellence. Let it not be said that we got tired of celebrating the landmark achievements and hard-earned recognitions of one of our own. Congrats once again, our brother, friend, and colleague. We await more good news!

Toyin Falola: Ibadan: Foundation, Growth and Change, 1830-1960

Another feature of the prize these past two years is that it has been awarded to books that were published last year, just a little before the books in question have gained a greater readership and circulation in Africa and Diaspora.  In Professor Falola’s case past quality can only predicate and always predict future quality and what more is to come...

I want to congratulate our great Prof. Falola for yet another honour done him. It shows that none of us should rest on our oars but keep on the struggle to reach the highest heights in our various endeavours. Congrats and long may you enjoy the fruits of your hard labour.
