To be official, a unit patch must be approved by the heraldry branch of the Defense Dept, and they will
mess with your design to the point that when the unit crest/patch is finally approved, every patch in the
unit will need to be changed to match the approved item. This happened to 2ACR in 1968. (just weeks
before the yearly IG inspections.)
this was indeed the only picture so far I could find with google.
The mister on the picture unfortunately is now more among us, so we can not
ask him for a better picture.
Still hope :
- to find a better image
- get to know what the 463rd carried as patches in WW2
