JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for
Responsible for planning and coordinating the installation and support of the ambulatory electronic medical record and other information systems in ambulatory settings for the network. Defines and publishes program goals, including benchmarks and outcomes and communicates these to key stakeholders. Facilitates the provision of timely and accurate information to enhance operations in network ambulatory settings.
The intent of this job description is to provide a summary of the major duties and responsibilities of this position and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the position.
WORK PERFORMED JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Coordinates activities of resources for planning, installing, and supporting information systems in ambulatory areas to support quality patient care.
2. Researches and recommends appropriate technologies to support the ambulatory settings while ensuring compatibility with other network information systems.
3. Has direct administrative responsibility for ambulatory project analyst(s).
4. In cooperation with others, directs the assessment and redesign of clinical work flows and processes to ensure successful implementation and adaptation to ambulatory information systems in all areas.
5. Facilitates physician leaders, administrative personnel, clinical staff and other involved parties in process redesign and implementation of redesigned clinical processes enabled and required by the implementation of ambulatory information systems.
6. Serves as the primary point of contact and is the communication liaison relative to ambulatory implementations with vendors, Physician Group and other information
technology resources. Ensures project status and expectations are communicated and facilitates the free flow of information between all involved parties.
7. Participates in project schedule development and maintenance and oversight/direction of project analyst(s). Prepares reports and communicates status and progress on ambulatory projects.
8. With the VP/CIO, responsible for management and tracking of ambulatory project budgets.
9. Assists with evaluation of ambulatory information systems and maintains a high level of awareness of current trends and future projections for use of ambulatory information systems.
10. Collaborates with Network departments to assess information technology needs in the ambulatory area.
11. Participates in the information technology strategic planning process.
12. Serves as an integral part of the Information Technology Department Management Team.
13. Serves as a member of the Disaster Recovery Team.
14. Maintains current knowledge of technology and healthcare environment by attending appropriate continuing education seminars, user groups, and reading related periodicals.
15. Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information.
16. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.
17. Demonstrates/models the Network’s Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).
18. Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety.
19. Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices.
20. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code. OTHER FUNCTIONS: 1. Other related duties as assigned.
MOST COMPLEX DUTY: Managing duties with regard to system implementations and support issues. Managing diverse personalities and demands imposed by medical staff and other healthcare professionals.
SUPERVISION (RECEIVED BY AND/OR GIVEN TO): Provides direct supervision to System Analysts as assigned to this area. Receives supervision as needed from the VP/CIO
COMMUNICATIONS: Healthcare personnel, technical personnel, physicians, and network management. Must be able to translate clinical and technical issues into lay language to insure effective problem solving.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Good analytical skills required. Must be detail oriented. Performs job duties to ensure that work is accomplished within appropriate timeframes. Is selfdirecting and takes initiative to improve departmental workflow and to further hospital goals and objectives. Maintains positive interpersonal and interdepartmental relationships. Demonstrates responsibility and follow-through with assigned projects. Possesses well-developed verbal and written communication skills.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree (minimum)
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years experience in healthcare information technology with background in process improvement and system implementation/project management. Demonstrated ability to function well under pressure and manage multiple priorities at one time.
