I've actually a friend who I would like to invite as we're working on a collaborative project and I think it may turn out to be useful... but I'm out of invites because I sent them all to my techie friends first.

Do you have an invite you could spare to "bbeecckkyy" (of course, at gmail)?

Sent it. Some of my previous invites took about a day to get there but some never got there (days after anyway). How's been your experience?

It seems that if you have features turned on in Labs you'll get the invite. If you don't, you won't.

They're screening them so that noobs won't get them.

What I've noticed is that with my friends who use Google Labs, they got it faster.

With friends who don't have anything enabled is Google Labs, it takes longer.

That's been my experience.

has anyone been using it ?  liking it ?  any good use cases ?  I looked at it briefly, couldn't immediately see where to apply it, so have ignored it but willing to give it a shot if there are some good use cases - I thought of using it in either a user group setting or in the classroom but not sure.

I would like to use it, but the problem is not enough people have it.

There have been several times when I've been writing an e-mail and I think "uh... I wish this were a wave". The problem is that it's not very useful until it reaches critical mass.

I think that using it in place of a mailing list would be the best use case.

How many times have you needed to correct a snippit of code or wanted someone else's advice on something on the list... and the whole mess of top/bottom posting, OT posts. Wave handles all of these situations quite nicely.

The two main problems (with the current client) are that it doesn't integrate with existing e-mail systems at all and, ironically (being that it's on top of jabber, or so I hear), you can't use it for chat.

If there were a wave client which used e-mail when the recipient doesn't have wave and otherwise did use wave, I could see it catching on much faster.

I have it open most of the day, but I don't make good use of it. Most tend to use a single wave like a mailing list or Google Group. Not a single topic or discussion thread, but the entire group. More than 100 messages is too hard to follow and it slows down my browser.

All in all, I've been more disappointed than thrilled. Perhaps it will improve in time.

At first I was disappointed, but I've been using Wave more and more.

I found out how to embed it into a webpage and I made a few documents in it too. The major drawback being that there's not a world-read-only mode yet, but I'm sure it will come.

Wave is definitely better when you have a few people that you're working on something with.

This is just the preview after all, not even a decent beta. My hopes for it have gone up in the past week as I keep thinking 'oh, I wish this were on a wave' for various things.

I don't use it very often, but I'd like to use it more often than
normally. I really like google wave, and I can envision me preferring
to use it over email once it matures and gets out of alpha.

Like AJ, I'm having more experiences where I say "I wish this
conversation were a wave".

okay, we should approach this like our Ruby software:
1) we should create a "branch": a Utah Ruby Wave - anyone want to take
this step?
2) make sure everyone who wants is getting connected to it - this means
talking about it on this list as well until people are fluent on Wave
3) post in both places (duplicative, but okay for short time as people
learn and explore the Wave)
4) At end of 2 wk iteration take a vote - forget it, continue for a
while more, make it main list replacing google groups & irc

make any sense ?

I don't think google wave is ready for this. I would make a motion we
let google wave mature more before we give a full test drive and make
a final vote.
