I had a little hiccup with the mysql gem and mysql itself. Nothing too
tricky... Most of my problems (re: Mysql) stemmed from Macports. Now it's
cleared up. Macports is the devil.

Chuck

The biggest hurdle was to get the mysql gem working. You might have
other issue based on 64bit libraries.

Ceaser

Depending on how you are using Ruby and all your plugins (stock distribution with Mac OS? MacPorts? Built from scratch?) you may have to rebuild some or all of your Ruby stack and it's dependencies since the stock Ruby is now 64-bit. Until you get all this squared away you can end up with some pretty bizarre responses in Rails.

I heard from Dave Brady that a bunch of GUI-related packages have issues. I can't confirm or deny it, I haven't done any GUI-related ruby.

I didn't do an upgrade, I formatted and installed from scratch. I don't think I've had any issues yet with MRI or JRuby (at least that I can remember).

HTH

Just a little due diligence prior to installing my snow leopard
upgrade...

I'm sure some of you are running snow leopard, but I wanted to find
out if anyone had any problems upgrading or issues with your ruby
stuff. I'm sure it's fine, but I wanted to hear it from some of you if
possible.

Thanks!

I think it has to do with the has_many calls in user.rb and the belongs_to
calls in friendship.rb, in the model. Then activeRecord takes care of
adding the join records. I'm not an expert though :)

On Thu, Nov 19, 2009 at 10:27 AM, Chris Sund

 Hey Group,

I'm hoping someone can lend their expertise to my question. I'm trying
to re-create a piece of functionality that we used in the media_lender
app this summer. It revolves around that apps ability to send an
invitation to a friend. I'm trying to figure out how the app populates
the "friendships" table with the friend_id and the user_id?

OpenVZ or Xen are going to look about the
same from your perspective but may perform vary differently. Not to
