Hello URUG!

I am looking for a talented and experienced Ruby on Rails developer for a contract position. This position is available immediately and will run through the end of the year, possibly being extended longer or even converting to a full-time position. We're looking for someone to work with us from our offices in South Jordan (just off of I-15 at 10600 S.) during normal business hours (8A - 5P  Monday through Friday) to aid in the development of an internal use app we have created. Pay will be determined based upon experience.

Interested candidates should send their resume and/or examples of their work, along with their desired pay, to charlie.sumpter[at]gmail.com.

Please forward this on to anyone who might not be on the URUG list but who would be interested.

Thanks!

-Charlie

Hey URUGers,

After my last post didn't get quite the response I'd hoped, I wanted to reach out to the group to see how to make the offer more enticing.

For any of you who do contract work and saw the previous post, what would we have to do to get you interested?

One thing I didn't really empasize is that we believe in paying well for value delivered. This isn't a "never-ending, scope-creeping project." We believe it could be a fun project to work on together and we look forward to contributing to someone's personal economy to help us out.

If you're interested, but the previous terms made you uncomfortable, let me know as I'm willing to work with the right person to make a win-win scenario.

Thanks!

-Charlie

Hi Charlie,

I do a lot of contract work, but didn't respond to your preview post.  The real reason for me was that I office out of my home.  It looks like you're looking for someone to come down and work in  your South Jordan office every day.  I'm sure it's not everyone's reason for not responding, but, for me, changing my work habits like this didn't appeal.

I imagine many, if not most, software contractors probably feel the same way.  Coming into an office isn't an unreasonable requirement, but you might consider asking people to come in a couple days a week, instead of every day.  I keep pretty regular hours, but I know many who work 2-3 hours here, and 2-3 hours there and feel they really excel in that type of environment—ya know, the freelance dream, right?

Hope this helps.  Good luck

Cheers,
Trey
