Hello everyone,

We installed Urchin 6 and originally wanted to utilize UTM, but that
process is on hold until we can get several websites htm files
updated. In the meantime I turned on IP+UA but site visit information
will not show up prior to the date I turned this setting on. I
thought a key feature of Urchin was the reprocessing of log files. I
see that it does process all the old log files and reports site hits
for several months back, just not site visits. Any ideas on how I can
fix this?

Also when we get the UTM working is it going to clear out site visit
information from the moment we turn that setting on?

Thanks all,
Johnathan

Hi Johnathan,

What type of webserver are you running? It may be a logformat issue.
Alternately, if the logs were originally processed using UTM with no
data found, then later processed as IPUA, Urchin would have skipped
over them, knowing that it already processed those logs. You may need
to clear out the data and reprocess.

Any changes you make in Urchin without clearing out any data is only
going to take effect moving forward, so you will maintain any data you
have up until that point.

That sounds like the problem exactly. The webserver is 2003 std r2/
sp2.

When you say clear out the data and reprocess - this is basically
going into the profile configuration, storage/db and choosing delete
ALL data for profile, then run/schedule - and run the log processor/
updater? I just want to be very careful I don't delete any
information permanently (I'm obviously not an Urchin expert).

Thanks Kirk.

Well it depends on what you need to reprocess. If everything, then
yes, you would Delete All Data for that profile. Otherwise you can
manually delete individual months in urchin/data/reports/(account)/
(profile)

Hmm...ok I deleted the data and reprocessed the log files. I watched
the progress in the scheduler, but after a bit the session timed out
and went back to the login screen. Now every time I try to login I
receive:

Urchin Configuration Utility Error (13001)
13001 - View: Failed to grab the list of records.

I tried disabling and re-enabling the urchin services. I also
rebooted the server. I even searched the internet and couldn't find
much information related to this at all. Have you or anyone else seen
this before?

Try increasing AUTHENTICATION_TIMEOUT in urchin/etc/session.conf and
restart the services.

Thanks Kirk, all is well now. Your replies helped me resolve both
problems. I really appreciate your time.
