How does Urchin measure visits?

Does anybody know how Urchin measures visits? How is a visit
defined? Can a visit time out due to inactivity? My logs contain
session IDs from our authentication systems - might Urchin be looking
at those, or will it always use its own method?

Any help would be gratefully received. I'm using the UTM tracking
method.

Hi Matthew,

For the UTM method, the end of a visit occurs when a visitor either
closes the browser or does not register any pageviews for 30 minutes.
Urchin 6 does not use session IDs for tracking purposes; the only
options are UTM and IP+User-Agent. The IP+User-Agent method only uses
the 30 minute timeout to determine the end of a session, as it has no
way to detect that the browser has closed.
