i've just installed Urchin 6400b8 (fedora3) on a Debian Linux Box.
Installation was fine and running inspector from command line tells
me, that almost everything is ok.
there is just one tiny Problem ;)
The urchind scheduler is not running.
stats:/usr/local/urchin# bin/urchinctl -s start
Urchin SLAVE scheduler failed to start
Urchin MASTER scheduler failed to start
It creates empty files in var/urchind_master.pid and var/urchind.pid
var/urchind_master.log says:
-----------------------------------------------------
/usr/local/urchin/bin/urchind starting at : Wed Apr 16 10:14:35 2008
-----------------------------------------------------
but running 'ps ax|grep urchin' doesn't show any urchind processes.
I've configured the scheduler to process my logfiles hourly.
I do find urchind processes after a while, maybe because this setting.
In this case I got some new messages in var/urchind_slave.log:
ERROR: (7021-512-339) Report directory does not exist - check
permissions.
DETAIL: /usr/local/urchin/data/reports/%28NONE%29 : No such file or
directory

I'm a litte lost at the moment, can anyone help me with this?
first of all I'd recommend downloading the final version which is
availble now at our website (http://www.webalytics.de). If you'd like
to continue with the Beta I'd strictly recommend you running Urchin
Inspector from the Urchin directory.
Best,
Holger

Since you have a permissions error, have you double-checked that the
user:group permissions for your apache webserver are actually
nobody:nogroup ? I assume that apache is actually running for that
matter.

So, it is possible to use the release Version with the beta key?
My beta key will run for about another 1,5 month.
I had a rather similar problem with the scheduler, urchinctrl status
was telling me, that all processes were running, but the taskmanager
was telling me they were not..

It is not possible to run the final with a BETA license key. But you
could download the final (either from Google directly or from any
other partner site) and keep your existing data and configuration.
The final also runs 30 days.
