Can web server logs set up for UTM also be used for IP+UA tracking?

We'd like to be able to experiment with UTM tracking, but also be able
to set up profiles using the same log files (which will contain the
UTM cookie data) which use IP+UA tracking.

Will this work? I guess what I'm asking is whether IP+UA processing
will just ignore the UTM cookie information in the log files, or if
the presence of this information will cause problems.

In addition, if we enable cookies in the web server logs for all our
sites (including those which do not have the UTM tracking code and
files installed) is this going to cause problems with the logs for
those sites which don't have UTM installed? Or would the cookie
information just not be output for them?

Cheers,
Rebecca

Hi Rebecca,

You may process the UTM logs in an IP+UA profile just fine. Urchin
will only report those __utm.gif hits in the IT Reports - it will not
affect any other reporting.

No, enabling cookies in logs that will be process as IPUA will not
cause problems.
