Hi Brent,
Autotagging works for Google Analytics only as is incompatible with
Manual Tagging. If you aren't using Google Analytics, then Manual
Tagging is your best option. As far as the tags go, you should
probably also include utm_term={keyword} to get the best results. I'm
not entirely certain, however, if you'll be able to put these
parameters in the anchor text instead of the query string. It's
possible that Urchin will only recognize the parameters for cost
matching purposes if the parameters are in the query string.
If you do decide to put the UTM parameters in the anchor text, you
should definitely include the following line in your UTM code:
_uanchor=1;
this can go right before the urchinTracker(); call.
Master Codes are a bit different. Usually it's most appropriate to use
Master Codes when you're already autotagging for Google Analytics'
purposes and don't have the option of Manual Tagging. Here's the
documentation on Master Codes:
https://secure.urchin.com/helpwiki/en/How_To_Use_Master_Tracking_Codes
If you put the utm_id parameter in the anchor text, you'll need to
include the _uanchor=1; in UTM code as with Manual Tagging.
