Cheat Training 2012!!

Hi there,

Cheat Training will be starting up again soon! I hope you guys are
feeling ready to hit the water.

We will be using this list serve to share info about workouts, meeting
times, speculation on Cheat river level, and other info. If you are a
member from years past, feel free
to stay aboard and live vicariously through this year's group or
cancel if it becomes too much.

Hi Carlos and all,

I was told that there will be 30 parking spaces available at Angler's from 5 pm on starting this coming weekend.  I believe that this will be enough spaces for all of us.  If this is not the case, we can arrange a shuttle from Carderrock but, as people generally arrive and leave at different times, it might be hard to co-ordinate.   If you can, please try to carpool.  

It may be a bit more difficult on the first attainment meeting, 3/7, since this is before daylight savings begins and we will attempt to meet at 4:30.  

If anyone parks at Anglers after 5 this week, please let me know how it works out!

Current Anglers Inn Parking Lot Situation:

(1) on weekdays from Dawn to 5pm, there are currently 6 parking spaces available.

(2) on weekdays from 5pm to Dusk, there are approximately 30 parking spaces available. 

(3) on the weekends from Dusk to Dawn, there are approximately 30 parking spaces available (with tons of cars along McArthur Blvd.).

New signs posted at Anglers indicate that they are going to start cracking down on people parking after sundown. I hope this doesn't present a problem for us.

Hey, how windy is it going to be tomorrow? It sounds like you might not want to come?  COME to Dickerson-- It's great practice! Then again, if you're not in the mood- I understand. But it is good practice. And I want to do some paddling early in the day and then work on my on line class (for teacher continuing educaion that I must get done for my license) and some household cleaning and errands later.  As for the party, I know Kensington well as I drive by it every day twice to get to Wheaton for work. I can pick you up or meet you somewhere and leave your car so we drive together if you like (after my dinner party in Mclean). Though it might be easier to meet near the party since I think I would just take the Beltway from Mclean...but I don't know anyone at that party so going togehter might be nice. Who is LIsa?  Did you see it's at  a Swim Club?  Maybe that this like a country club or something...

 

Dana is out of town this week skiing in Colorado but back next weekend to train us Sunday ( and I may go to Dickerson on Satudray with Dana in the afternoon).  Sunday I will do my trainer and then paddle on the feeder nearby on my own-- then Little Falls if I can join your group?? Or we can go? Carrie

Hey Cheaters: I need to come up with a dry suit. Do you think that Lisa, not the cute dog in the kayak who also paddles, but the other Lisa, could help me find a dry suit? Hmmm, but where do I find her? 

 

Unfortunately, I missed the the Potomac Paddler dry suit sale. So if any of you have or know of a dry suit that is in reasonably good condition and is not being used, I am in the market. ( I am 5'8" and 165.)  Any other suggestions... Otherwise,I will go with Kokatak or ER.   Steve

I just flew in from SF/Bay area to do some some work, and unreal surf, weather was a unseasonable 85 degrees F., the usually cold quite "sharky" waters.
