The Albright Gauge in the AW site is crazy; it shows the fow of `13k:

>>> (Canyon) Albright to Jenkinsburg Bridge III-IV
>>> high 12,700 4/16 6:00 [detail]

However the USGS site shows the following very lower gauge:

>>> Gauge height, feet
>>> Most recent instantaneous value: -0.52 04-16-2009 06:00

Should we ignore the Albright Gauge in AW and look at one in USGS?

If that's true and it is the bridge gauge at 7.5, then the Pittsburgh conversion  from Rowlesburg is not accurate, as it suggest the level should be in the lower 6's at 11,300 CFS (10AM Thursday). Adam's conversion from the Parsons gauge, currently at 6,700CFS would also be low:

Albright Bridge Level = 1.0 foot at ~ 1000 cfs at Parsons

Albright Bridge Level = 3.0 feet at ~ 3100cfs at Parsons

Albright Bridge Level = 5.0 feet at ~ 6000 cfs at Parsons

Albright Bridge Level = 8.0 feet at ~ 11000 cfs at Parsons

George --- the Albright Bridge gauge is definitely broken and not even close accurate.

My conversion below is NOT for the Parsons Gauge -- it IS for the
Rowlesburg Gauge (which is downstream from Parsons and a much more
accurate cfs gauge of levels for the Canyon).

Here is a link to the text levels at Rowlesburg (the most recent
number is 2-4 hours ago, and the water takes about 4-8 hours to get
from Rowlesburg to the Canyon):

http://newweb.erh.noaa.gov/ahps2/tabular.php?gid=rolw2&wfo=iln&pedts=hgirg

And the Rowlesburg Gauge shows a 11200 cfs level and dropping, so a
current 7.5 Albright Bridge Level is spot on.

Again, here is my best guess of the conversion

Albright Bridge Level = 1.0 foot at ~ 1000 cfs at ROWLESBURG

Albright Bridge Level = 3.0 feet at ~ 3100cfs at ROWLESBURG

Albright Bridge Level = 5.0 feet at ~ 6000 cfs at ROWLESBURG

Albright Bridge Level = 8.0 feet at ~ 11000 cfs at ROWLESBURG

Subject: Rowlesburg to Albright Brifdge Conversion

With the Albright Power Station malfunctioning its been tough for me to figure out the level of the Cheat River at Albright Bridge. Fortunately John Kobak and the keelhaulers have come up with this handy conversion chard. A quickie: 2.0 = 1200 cfs; 3.0 = 3000 cfa, 4.0 = 5000 cfs.

See you on the river!
