Well, the original intent was to go from monochrome to color once you
rollover the button for a dramatic effect. I could simply make the
monochromatic icons more visible... Also, I'm not a Gnome user, and
haven't been in that environment recent enought to say, but KDE has an
effect where it brightens the icon on rollover and shrinks the icon as
if it were depressed when clicked on. In the old days of the Apple
IIGS, if you made an icon, you had to design the rollover and click
icons yourself. The OS did not have its own effects it placed on the
icons. I thought it would be nice to do something like that, where we
could decide how it looked in those circumstances.

I made some changes to see what everyone thinks (still have the
originals, though). For the normal state, I simply put the color in
the icons, but their muted. I also designed two alternative click
icons where they shrink to appear depressed, just like KDE does it. I
did one version of each like the rollover icon, only smaller, and one
version each of the brightened click version, only smaller. Let me
know what you think.
