Hello All,
To read unicode text in firefox in windows XP or 2000 nicely, you have to install additional language support that comes on windows. For this you need to have a windows installer CD from which you have installed your Operating system. For this follow the follow steps.
1. Insert windows installer cd in your CDROM.
2.Open Control Panel -> Regional & Language options(get from classic view or category view in Win XP).
3. On the language tab check the first box(install files for complex script and right to left languages--include thai) and Click Apply
4. One dialogue box will be prompted to use additional memory. Click on YES.
5. The system will automatically search on the CDROM for the required file and will install automatically.
6. It will be prompted to restart your system. Do that, and happy reading on firefox on unicode text of nepali.
The idea behind this is to copy the default windows unicode supported fonts to your system like Mangal. Using firefox you can easily read the texts in Mangal font like in sites
www.mysansar.com
,
www.nepalihimal.com. But still you will be having problem displaying the fonts like kalimati or others like reading kantipur on nepali, Nepali weekly on firefox. So this cannot guarantee you to 100% solution of the problem but to
99.9%. The 100% gurantee of displaying the unicode text correctly can be done by internet explorer. So, to the sites possible I suggest you to use firefox & the remaining should be tried with IE.
Still if you have any problem in displaying unicode text document on Nepali on Firefox, please reply to me.
Basanta.
