Subject: Notre Dame as unconf venue 29 August 2008

I just spoke to Alison Nearn at Notre Dame who has been watching the emails
on this group, so is up to speed.

Stephen McVey was keen about the idea, but is not back until Friday and will
contact me after then.

I asked whether we could have access, on 29th August,  to:
1. A large space where all participants could meet up, to be used as a
breakout space during the day and meeting up in morning and afternoon.
2. A PC training lab
3. Two or three rooms which fit 30 people each
4. A large space where lots of librarians could eat and chat over lunch (I
liked the way we catered, so didn't lose momentum with people drifting off
to lunch)

I forgot to ask about wireless access - which I think would sway the whole
thing. Am cc-ing her in on this email so that she knows :)

Matthias, you suggested that UWA *might* be amenable to hosting an unconf.
Would you have venues/wireless/avilability at UWA ?

The other thing we considered last year was Town of Cambridge library /
meeting spaces ...although they charged for them and we wouldn't want that
...maybe they would dontate the venue?

( I still like the idea of State Library, but it would disperse the group if
we were in several small rooms I think.  I kind of like the idea of using
the Auditorium. Are we wedded to the 29th as a date? I think people are
overseas during the July country librarians week... is Sept too late if we
can get the right venues at SLoWA?...)

Cheers,
Kathryn
