Subject: MLK Spirit Awards to Amy Bell and Milton Morris

Congratulations to Amy Bell and Milton Morris!

These two EECS/Systems graduate students have
each been awarded a Martin Luther King Spirit Award
for 1997.

Amy Bell was 1996 director of the Graduate Committe of
U-M's award-winning Society of Women Engineers (SWE)
chapter. Under her direction, the committee has grown to
include more students. Amy's leadership has been
instrumental in developing new programs, including a welcome
event, a mentoring program, a brown bag lunch series, and
collaborative events with College of Engineering faculty
women.

Milton Morris put himself through Northwestern University on
a football scholarship and now provides math and physics
tutoring to students in UM's Athletic Department.  He is a
model of creativity with responsibility, a gentleman,
scholar, and respected member of his department.  He also
has a patent applied for by the UM.

We can all be very proud of having such outstanding
students in our department.
