Dear List,
Announcing a flute class this summer at the University of Minnesota with
flute professor, Immanuel Davis and Alexander Technique teacher, Käthe
Jarka. The class will be held at the University’s School of Music from
Monday July 13 through Friday July 17th. There will be a pianist to
accompany everyone for the daily performance classes. The class is open
to a maximum of 12 participants and an unlimited number of auditors.
There will be daily master classes and private lessons (in both flute
and Alexander Technique). There will be some classes dedicated to using
the breathing bag, breath builder and techniques for incorporating them
into daily practice.
Each participant will perform twice in the classes and have a private
lesson with each teacher.
The focus of the teaching for the week will be exploring creative ways
to practice both away from and at the instrument in order to play with a
greater ease and clarity of musical intention.
