Subject: Re: hot end needs to be fixed by the Ultimaker guys
@Taylor Oh cool for that advice. FYI I have a longer heater barrel at 36mm and believe this has a positive advantage as the temprature at the posterior end to the heater is cooler than the UM setup. Therfore, with the plastic temp at that end being lower the fillament can sit in the heater barrel longer >25 min at 232deg with out pluging. I have seen pluging occure from printers sitting at temp for too long "felix, UM and Replicator" with out printing. From memory - my stock UM setup would plug 1/4 dia x >5mm in the PEEK part and release with little effort. I guess we need some rehology on PLA, ABS and PEEK materials. The Co-efficent of Friction for PLA is 0.19 and PEEK 0.38 that is quite a difference but we need a plastics persion to advise. I could speek to our rehology people at RMIT. Im currently redesigning my solution http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:20535 for 16mm dia tecapeek and will experiment with a >3mm 1/8" dia gap between Bowden tube and Brass Heater barrel. Lets see what happens ;p I also have a 36mm 1.75mm dia heater barrel to test as well. Best You must Sign in before you can post messages.
