That's a mod we (the group that built their UM in the FabLab Lucerne (Switzerland)) are currently engineering: ABS did not work for us at all: The extruder was grinding away all the material and did not transport anymore. Roman Jurt (the FabLab manager) has constructed this version which seems to work quite well. We'll be working on it this Friday and keep you posted as soon as it's stable.

worm-gear works like a charm, there is a lot of power, no digging in
yet...
simple abs prints (like legobricks) have a surface i have not seen
that smooth in the past ;)
the extruder seems to work reliable - i have not tested it to much
with pla yet - but it seems to like abs;)
it is quite a big package now. i have not spend to much time in
material- optimization yet...
plans and material list are on the way. (the is not one special part!
all simple screws and things from the hardware shop...)
i'm locking forward to some more tests and to your reactions!
