Hey All,
Just an email to say that I think we should shut down the ukhas google
group and set up a new one - it seems that we have been overwhelmed
with spam and even if your spam filters catch it the archive is
stuffed full of it. I guess thats one of the reasons for the mailing
list not being used.

What to people think?

The "classic" fix for this is to switch the list to moderate members on
first post. I don't think creating a new list will help that much
because spammers are just crawling google groups to find places to spam.

I'm moving the London Hackspace list over to use mailman over the next
few days (for this reason and others) and you're more than welcome to
use our server if you want.

Cheers,

Russ

I've removed all the spam from the archives and AFAIK, we have first
post moderation on, so hopefully we shouldn't have a problem.

We originally had a mailman list but switched to Google Groups for
ease of administration. Perhaps we should switch back.

Thanks to Russ for the offer of Mailman listserv hosting, and thanks
to Ben for deleting junk and setting moderation.

I can't say that I've noticed a lot of spam from this Group, but then
I get so much for other channels.

Maybe one subject for the proposed UKHAS meeting, could be the
optimisation/rationalisation of communication channels.

Best regards!
Spike
