Hi Ken

Well I am doing well then, I only joined last night and I have got your
post already.
I will take this opportunity of saying Hi to everyone. I am currently
looking at running some QRP on 500KHz. I need to do some Antenna work.

Hi Eddie.
Thanks for the reply, I cannot workout what is happening, your reply
came to the correct email address but the user name was not the one I
use for this address.
I am in Luton Bedfordshire locator IO91TV, where are you located?. The
TX N channel power MOSFET giving 20 watts into a 50 ohm power meter,
the antenna is my doublet, with both legs of the balanced feeder
commoned at the variometer output, ant current about 900mA giving
about 100 mW ERP. I have difficulty working 500kHz as it takes out my
broadband connection much to the anoyance of the family, we are almost
3km for the exchange. I am able to woork 500kHz late at night when the
broadband is not in use, but I cann make use of the grabbers. If you
fancy a late night QSO please mail me.

Hi Ken

Well they say that there is not much activity on the group. It's a shame
because I am already a bit fed up wit the moaners on the RSGB group.

>I am in Luton Bedfordshire locator IO91TV, where are you located?.

QTH Northampton here IO92ng.

I am a QRP fan here I have 160mW of RF at 50 ohm so my ERP is minimal
particularly with my Doublet, like yours, feeder strapped, unfortunately
the ends drop right down and it must be poor performance. Yet last night
I managed to get a WSPR report from Graham M0BMU.

Ah! I have seen somewhere I am sure that a station fitted a filter on
the telephone line. The first thing that my 160mW did was take out the
Broadband, it was tea time Friday when it gets dodgy anyway, that must
be line noise. I think the 500KHz was the lat straw as it has been
perfect ever since.

Re a QSO, that should be possible at our range although at the moment my
TX can only do QRSS FSK, Hell and WSPR from my PIC keyer.

Maybe you up and down key your TX, I would be able to listen for you and
mail you back. It would be good to know if you can see my QRSS etc. At
the moment I put it on 503.815 I shall be on later today with it no
doubt.

Hi. Eddie.
I am not yet set up for WSPR, only hand keyed cw, I would really like
to be on 500kHz more often, but because I am on the limits for
successful broadband I am restricted to late at at night, or I have to
to negotiate with the family for a broadband down time. I am using my
TS140 as the RX with a tunable pre-amp so should be able to receive
you. What do I require to receive WSPR?, I have a not very quick pc in
the shack running xp.

Hi Ken

Thanks for the reply. I have changed my antenna, I don't know if it will
be for the worse but it tunes. I have dropped my 30m Dipole which is fed
from the upstairs shack. It's a sort of upside down Marconi T, the WX is
not suitable to do more work.

I should be able to copy your signal when you can get on for sure.

From your shack set up, I think you don't run any computer modes.
A not too fast PC will run Spectran FB for the QRSS FSK and most likely
WSPR too.
To RX on both you need to take the RX audio from the Receiver usually at
the headphone or Accessory socket and connect that to the Computer Line
In.

I like to have the RX and computer chassis bonded together and a 600 Ohm
isolating transformer in the Audio line. There are many circuits around
like this one for TX/RX.

A get you going guide is now included with WSPR software. At.

Hi Eddie, Ken

Graham M0BMU ? ... = Jim Hi

It depends how Ken , is driving the TX ... as in the exciter ...
unless you have the right pic job, then you need to use the
ssb function of a normal rig .. with the added problem , if the
class e/d pa uses a logic drive , in that the rf carrier ends up
half the drive and half the deviation ..but Gary and I are looking
into using harmonics to genarate an excitition that is x2 or x4
the original deviation to feed down the drive chanin ,
Patrick ,multisk' has sent over a version that produces a full
wave rectified output , to give the x2 drive ..

Hi Graham

Oh yes indeed, I was thinking mainly of Ken getting on RX to see the
beacons.

Interesting the solutions for class D.
