Via the orange website, already got an orange.net email address from
ages ago. My mobile number showing correctly linked to the email
account

http://email10.orange.co.uk/webmail/en_GB/xmsNotification_settings.html

config as follows activated checked + maximum number of alerts/ month
= 50 + all messages + every day + no other filters set

sms alerts is showing 'on' in the left hand menu bar

email goes into mailbox ok, no sms is ever sent

Has anyone got this to work?

It's pants. It was set up correctly but took over 24 hours to send an
SMS. So not really fit for purpose and a rip off at 10p a shot.

Until a month or so ago, this had been a very reliable service - for free.
Ever since the website has been overhauled, Orange.Net email has been
notoriously unreliable. Works for a few hours then dies for days on end.

The website says it charges 10p per text alert, this has never been the
case.

Well I checked my bill and they charged me (this was on OVP Virgin so
it may be different)

I know people on OVP Virgin, who receive double-digit volumes of Orange.Net
text alerts each day.. and they've never been charged for them.

I won't speculate as to whether this is by accident or design, but it's
certainly been the case for several years.

Incidentally, this is also the case on other phones I know of which are also
on a mixture of archived tariffs (High Speed Data) and currently-available
ones.

Regards

Jon.
