I am looking around for a new sim only deal and see that TalkMobile seem to have some good deals.
Any idea if they have good coverage or not? - im currently with Tescomobile which isnt partically good where we live so cant be much worse? Someone said they work in train tunnels!?
Do talkmobile also support 3G etc...?
How much are MMS?
Does it work in the EU - France & Spain in particular?
Im not too fussed on customer service, im with tesco like i said, so im use to poor customer service, as long as the thing works i be happy!

Talkmobile use the Vodaphone network.

Yes to 3G; don't know which etceteras you're interested in ;))

My main gripe is the number of calls I get from Talkmobile asking if I like the service and trying to sell me an upgrade. Not quite as annoying as Talk Talk on the land-line, though.

I'm with TalkMobile, on PAYG, and the service and coverage seems OK, call charges good, plus the Internet access charges are reasonable. and I do not get any promo calls from them, but that might be to do with the PAYG account. The easiest way to stop these promo calls is to simply state when called, 'could you please not ring me again about service or marketing calls, and remove my number from your calling list in accordance with the Data Protection Act'. Reputable companies are usually very good at complying when the DPA is mentioned as it is against the law if they don't.

I see the MMS is dearer than tesco and the roaming charges are steeper too!
But i guess one has to take the overall package, sadly i wont be sunny myself too much to bother about that for next year or so!

It runs on Vodafone so coverage is good, but as with all virtuals you
get lower call and data priority then Vodafone contract customers.
This wont be noticeable most of the time.
Check the Vodafone coverage checker for your postcode.

Just another quick question, can you get sms delivery reports on talkmobile, i know with o2/tesco you do the *0# thing, is there a similair code for them too when needing the adhoc peace of mind its arrived,

I've never used that particular feature but there's a global setting for it on my smartphone, so I suppose that it's a standard part of the SMS system regardless of service provider or network.

Yes, you can get delivery reports - mine is set to do this and it works a treat.

Thanks Dave, can you do this for an adhoc text ( like the O2 code) or does it have to be set so will get a report on everyone you send?

Sorry mate, I don't know. On mine, it's a tick-box - select it to get delivery reports on every one I send, deselect it to stop delivery reports.

Ive not got one of these sims, am i going mad again or what....
ive gone to setup my phone and after putting in my number and code, then selecting my phone make and model it says....
"Click on "Send" to receive your Internet and MMS settings. If your phone asks for a PIN code, please use 0000.
No settings can be configured for this phone.
"
Where on earth do i click on send?!!
Ive tried replying to the text but nothing, and no Send button on the screen?,,, any ideas?

To me that would suggest that either you need to follow the instructions to
manually set up your MMS settings (instructions on talkmobile site) or that
you don't need to. Try sending a picture message to yourself and see what
happens. With some phones, sending the first MMS seems to enable the MMS
capability.

No doesnt work for me, i have also tried to set this up, im wondering if its the proxy settings need tinkering with.

useless reply from talkmobile..
To set up this service, all you need to ensure is that the APN is entered correctly into your handset. This will configure the service. To do this, you need to complete the following steps:
a.. Settings
b.. Mobile networks
c.. Add APN
d.. talkmobile.co.uk
e.. Select save

English would be nice.
Have you actually tried using the PAYG settings as provided on the
talkmobile site? Click "talkmobile phone settings" on this page. Failing
that, ring their helpline (5888). Google also provides plenty of hits for
Windows mobile MMS settings.

How hard can asking for windows settings in english be? certainly no one here understands me or in the CPW or by email or phone to 5888 to TM.
ive so far drawn a blank.
Perhaps if english speaking people read my post, you could see i have tried the website, no luck with finding the settings or having them sent directly to my phone.
I have even tried google, but its all icrap and androids, clearly anything else is not worthy of a networks custom these days!
Well they can stick their chip up where the sun dont shine too much only on saturday nights, im sticking with tescomobile which works fine with my aging HD2 windows phone.

I still don't see a coherent reply from you confirming that you've
tried using the website's configuration option. Talkmobile's website
has this under Help & advice > Get your settings and then either [Get
your phone settings], which sends a configuration text to your phone, or
[Talkmobile phone settings] which lists the complete set of parameters
you would need to enter manually.
Personally, I've been pretty impressed with Talkmobile's customer
service. It's made out to be poor but that's the opposite of the
experience I've had.

I don't see anywhere in the thread you describing the phone you've got,
other than "Windows mobile". Perhaps this is sufficient - I don't know -
but searching for that along with talkmobile and mms settings gives at
least one site that provides instructions that it claims are correct.

Hi Chris...
I did put ..
"ive gone to setup my phone and after putting in my number and code, then
selecting my phone make and model it says....
"Click on "Send" to receive your Internet and MMS settings. If your phone
asks for a PIN code, please use 0000.
No settings can be configured for this phone"
There was no button to click for `Send`
When i called up, talkmobile confirmed the settings cannot be sent automatically to my phone, a HTC HD2, not exactly an old phone.
Im not impressed at all with TM, from the email they gave back which was as limp as a dead lettuce, saying go into a CPW shop and let them sort it out, who didnt have a clue also.
Basically unless you are buying a phone or its a andriod or iphone they dont care.
Then on the phone to TM today twice, they kept on giving me the contract settnigs, i had to keep on reminding them im on PAYG so thats half the reason why it isnt working.
So spend 1 in call charges ( 50p a call ) for sweet FA. Again, they claim i must be the only person in the world with a HTC HD2 phone to ever want to go to them.
It doesnt really matter what phone you have, just like andriods, windows settings will work for all, at least when i went from my XDA O2 phone to this HTC HD2 phone the settings were exacly the same for Tescomobile and found in the same place, easy or what!
If only Andriod did TomTom and alot of other good things, perhaps I would change over.
IF someone can find a windows phone set-up on the net via google for talkmobile i'd be happy to be shown, i cannot find one not even on youtube.

I recently got an HTC Desire HD (Android) from e2save on Talkmobile and had this very problem with the exact wording of "No settings can be configured for this phone" - the reason was that it was all already set up. Have you actually tried 'using' the phone to do what you want to do? You may find that it just works, without any intervention from you.

I was actually trying to suggest that you should use English here if you
expect folk to help you.
