I have a Pace 2600C1 receiver which I am hoping to use to replace an
unreliable Panasonic one. The Pace hasn't been used for a while and its
Operating System is V1.2S4B and EPG is 3.3b.5 - so it has obviously
missed receiving some upgrades. ( I think that V1.2S4FS and 3.7.6 are
the latest versions.)

The receiver has been running continuously on Sky News for a few days
now but nothing has happened as yet, so I am wondering how long it might
be before it receives an over-the-air upgrade, assuming that Sky are
still sending them to non-Sky+ boxes. I've read elsewhere that
initiating a forced firmware upgrade could well cause more problems than
it solves.

Does anyone know in this NG know how often, or if, further system
upgrades for this Pace receiver are likely to be transmitted?.

Many thanks, and a Happy New Year to all the readers of this group.

- Dave

I don't know if, or when the latest Pace o/s is transmitted, but it may have
already downloaded it. New o/s does not get installed until you (or Sky by
remote command) perform a re-boot. Try mains cycling the box, it might come up
with the latest version.

I only supply/use PACE 2600C1's.

Latest EPG on my system is 3.7.6
O/S 1.2S4FJ

My recommendation is, do not do a forced software upgrade and wait.

I have a single page Main Menu with only 20 favourite channels
available. The radio channels DO work although their numbering differs.

That's reassuring, many thanks.

I did a forced upgrade last night and on re-booting there was no
change to either the O/S or the EPG versions so I'll now leave the
receiver on and wait patiently for the upgrade to arrive.

Many thanks to those who took the time to respond to my posting.

Happy New Year to all.

Only showing 20 channels normally means that the box has had a
ill-timed forced software update, before it had received critical
updates.

In my experience of 2600C1's (and I have sold probably 100+), doing a
forced software update, should only be done as a very last resort. Not
for getting missing channels up, but for when the box is
misfunctioning.

You can use the box to prop the door open now, its no good for
anything else.
