Add hard drive

I have just had installed a Sky+ box. I notice it has a USB port on the
rear.

I have a 250GB external hard drive (freecom classic). Can i plug this into
the sky box and use it as an additional hard drive and also can I transfer
programmes I have recorded on the sky box to the hard drive?

Since it seems unlikely that Sky included a USB port solely for charging
mobile phones, what *is* it there for?

It's a shame PVRs don't allow such a thing, though, even if you had to buy one
from the PVR manufacturer. It'd make increasing the capacity so much easier
for the average punter who doesn't want to open up their box.
