I suspect this is a FAQ; if so I apologise, I have done some
searching...
Currently I have an old Sky box. It has a SCART and RF1 connection to
my PC which has a composite and analogue video in card. That's in my
messy room. My bedroom and in my lounge (in my small 1 person flat in
a care home) is connected by WF100 to a passive insulated splitter
which is in turn connected to RF2 on my Skybox. There are Magic Eyes
on each of these, so I can watch Sky in any of the rooms and control
it.
The minidish is on top of the building, as my flat looks out West.
It's a big building, a 3 storey care home. The timing was right when I
moved rooms, as we were going through Analogue Switch-off, and I paid
20 for a Freesat installation. To get line of sight they had to put
it on top of the building. There is only a single coax feed down from
it.
I've had an offer through for Sky Entertainment + with a Sky HD box. I
would like to make use of this offer. But to replicate my current
setup requires some thought.
TVs in the bedroom and lounge, and the computer in my messy room, can
all have HDMI input. Do I get an HDMI splitter? If so, any particular
one? Do I run HDMI cables through the wall? If so, do I have to drill
holes in the wall large enough for the HDMI plug to fit through? Or
can I cut the plugs off, push the cable through and re-solder the
cables together?
Can I connect the existing RF cables to the new box and use the
existing Magic Eyes with Sky+HD remotes?
And what about the downlead? Will Sky replace the one put up by the
digital TV help scheme, with a dual co-ax lead, including replacing
the LNB if necessary? Will I face problems with Sky as it's over three
storeys high?
Questions questions questions! Any information anybody can provide, or
advice, very gratefully received.
All the best to you all
Doug
