I was watching Kieron Pollard yesterday hitting some cricket balls in the IPL. He hit five 6s in a row.
On Saturday his name had first wormed its way into my consciousness via the Saturday Times letter page.
It seems that during the week Mike Atherton had said that Pollard had very nearly cleared the Pav at Lord's, and had he done so he would have equalled Alfred Trott's Big Hit.
But one of the letters on Saturday said emphatically that Pollard HAD cleared the Pavilion. The ball had gone clear over but been returned through a lower tier at the front. This gave the impression that that lower tier was the ending point of the ball's trajectory.
Anyway, seeing some of his hits yesterday made me think that he has the ability to clear Lord's pav.
How tall is that guy? It's hard to tell when he stands next to Indians.
