Saw four bowlers that I had not seen in the flesh before today: ,
Rushworth, Wood, Buckley and Borthwick
Rushworth is very reminiscent of Ken Higgs
Wood is faster than he looks, getting the ball to rise nastily from
just short of a length. Has a very short run (nine paces) for a modern
fast bowler.
Buckley did not take a wicket but looked most promising. Very
reminiscent of Swan in run up and delivery. Has a good deal of energy
in his bowling.
Borthwick. Bowled off a Bomber Wellsian run up but has a quick arm
action. Bowled too many full tosses (avoided long hops) but caused
problem when he pitched. Took three wickets to Buckley's none, but
Buckley bowled better.
I was hoping to see Ben Stokes bowl but he did not get on. May not be
fit to bowl as he did not bowling the first Surrey innings.
