There was a farmer just on Radio Scotland saying that they had 18
inches of snow before last night and another 6 inches overnight.

We got a cm!

Would it have been open otherwise?

Both our schools are open though an awful lot of the ones in lower
areas of Cumbria are shut.

3 foot drifts against the walls of the Primary School and more than a
foot of lying snow everywhere. The primary school car park has been
visited by a digger at some point yesterday so would have been fairly
clear if it wasn't for the 7cm fresh snow last night.

1cm from the tame snows last night in Wishaw and all the local schools are
all open to the best of my knowledge. Just scraped above zero for 5 minutes
today again (max +0.3C) after another sub -10C minimum (the fifth in the
last six days), total lying snow still recorded as 28cm. Until the wind gets
a fraction of an easterly component I don't expect any further snow here in
Lanarkshire during the next 24-36 hours. But if the wind isn't a feature at
all a minimum below -15C could be on the cards. The local river is now
begining to freeze, I'm sure the slower flowing river Clyde has probably
already done so - for the first time since late December 1995.
Alex.
