Hello Zelda,

The Vikings didn't write much stuff down until after they were
converted to Christianity. So most of the resources we've got weren't
written by practitioners, but by people who were Christians writing
about previous generations.

There are neo-pagans who have tried to put together 'reconstructions'
of various types, but it's a lot of guess work, and mostly just
another flavor of paganism from the (very) little I've seen.

Have you looked into Norse mythology? This suggests that there was a
strong shamanicistic element. The Norse model of the universe puts
'our' world between other worlds, with 'beings' able to pass between
them. It also contains stories such as Odin hanging himself on the
world tree for several days to obtain knowledge.

Other than mythology a good place to start might be by studying runes
such as the Elder Futhark.

BTW, Hitler drew on some Norse mythology when putting together Nazi
Germany. Unfortunately, this has left it's taint on some of this
stuff. So although most folks interested in this are nice enough, be
prepared for some not nice people and others who've heard it's bad rep
and give you strange looks.

I've cross posted this to a pagan group in the hope they can suggest
specific groups interested in this stuff.

Not to read original docs, they are reputed to have uses for
divination, amulets etc.
