Your prayers would be appreciated for my licensing as a Lay reader in
the Scottish Episcopal Church on Saturday at St Mary's Episcopal

Father, look kindly on Kennedy's response to your calling; inspire him
by your holy Spirit to both eloquence and a deep understanding of your
holy Word; give him likewise a love of that Word, and of your holy
Church to whom you have called him to minister it. I ask this through
your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayers ascending at this moment. To be ordained before Brangwyn's
Mosaics is quite something.

On Sunday June 25, fifty six Methodist ministers will be ordained, as
will six deacons, at services at various venues in Edinburgh (including
St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral.) I am sure they would love to be
supported in prayer. (One of the ordinands, Deborah Cornish, is a
personal friend.) The Methodist tradition is that all ordinations take
place at the annual Methodist Conference.

My wife and I are acting as Communion servers at one of the venues -
sadly not the one where Deborah will be!

Anyone interested in the Methodist Conference will find a useful
website at
http://www.methodistconference.org.uk/index.htm

It is. St A's is a magnificent venue for an ordination. The preacher at
the Corpus Christi deanery service last night described it as 'the
spiritual heart of worship in the diocese' which is a bit OTT (but true
of course!)

The mosaics have had quite an airing over the last few weeks during the
Brangwyn retrospective exhibition at Leeds, Bruges and Swansea
anniversary event:

www.brangwyn.freeserve.co.uk/exhibiti.htm

The church has been opened every Saturday to see the mosaics and we've
had about 1,000 visitors.

Amen to that, private and public. I'm preaching at Alwoodley Park on
Conference Sunday and I know the intercessor will pay special attention
to ordinands.

There's one from our circuit as well, Ann Kenton, brought up as RC, to
be ordained in the cathedral.
