I am very happy to say the there has been a change in Government
funding for FE colleges so we can now make a dramatic cut in the fees.
Please pass this info onto anyone you know who has already booked a
course.
Refunds will be organised (eventually) for anyone who has already paid
for a 2002/03 course (says he with both legs, arms and fingers
crossed). This post will explain why credit/debit cards will have less
taken from them.
Full course details on www.reading-college.ac.uk/marine, but pending
an update which is difficult to organise during recess, the fees are
as follows:
Diesel Engine & Boat Maintenance £50
Welding for boaters & Painting for boaters £50 + £10 material = £60.
Members of certain clubs & associations geta £10 discount on the fees
The pub will not discount the lunches, so they remain at £4.95 per
day.
I trust you will not take this as spam (we are a charity) and as I am
going on holiday on Friday night, this is the quickest way to pass out
the good news.
Tony Brooks
Can you point to more details of this policy change? I for example may
well want to do a City & Guilds in wooden boatbuilding/fitting at some
stage in the future - at a FE college (I think) - cheaper fees would be
a Good Thing...
Thanks.

If I do this, it will either be at Lowestoft College (ie: Oulton Broad?)
(http://www.lowestoft.ac.uk/boatbuilding/) or Falmouth
(http://www.demon.co.uk/fcms/Training_courses1.htm).
These seem to be the 2 main FE colleges which do this C&G course. The
private colleges seem to be very expensive.
