The www.wcbs.org.uk have purchased an irish E type bolinder 15HP from the boat M50 and I was hoping to obtain any info to help us in the renovation of this engine. Engineering drawings would be a great help or any contacts for parts. We already have a service and parts list which came from internal fire.
We are trying to return a 1927 wooden narrowboat ( Forget me Not) to her original engine.

Spey has a 15hp Bolinder's - but I have not heard of it referred to as E type. It certainly does not mention it on the engine plate.
There is a lot of built up knowledge on this, but we would need a piccy or some other id from you to see if we were batting on the same wicket. Regards Pete Friend of Spey group member. www.thecanalshop.com

Following a recent inspection by DK, Esq, of an Irish Bolinder, I gather that there are differences between the Irish and the Spey versions, despite their both being 15hp.
Until recently, there were four Irish Bolinders operating in Irish motor-barges (although one of the remaining three may not be operating very much). It might be useful to contact the Heritage Boat Association www.heritageboatassociation.ie

An Irish Bolinder's - the mind boggles, but I do get your point !
From the reports I read - the basic engine was probably very similar but the peripherals were completely different. I would still like to see a photo of the new acquisition - even just for general interest. I have hundreds of the Swedish version that I could publish .

Might be worth contacting the Vintage Marine Engine Club
