Hi folks,

I just wondered if anyone has a manual for a Honda outboard, mine is a 15hp
engine with a grey/silvery looking cowling and electric start.

I would be happy to pay for photocopying and mailing charges (with my prior
agreement), or if the pages could be scanned and emailed that would be
excellent.

I am particularly interested in the filters (can't see any but guess there must
be a water filter if not an air filter?) and a fuel shut off (unless you just
disconnect the fuel pipe).
I also wondered if there was any way of running the engine on fast tickover
without having to put it into gear.

No idea how old the engine is but a couple of people have said it's only a few
years old if that.

Any help greatly appreciated

Ta muchly

Hi,

You may need a few more details than that :-)

Hope that helps...

My "Seloc" manual in front of me covers all models from 1978-1999 (ISBN
0-89330-048-9). Not anywhere near as good as the proper thing, of
course, but easy to find an online seller.

If it's like the smaller models, there's just a tubular stainless mesh
in the water inlet for straining the water. Hondas have bug-traps
rather than proper air-filters. AFAIK, the fuel-shutoff system is just
how you describe!

That's down to the controls. Morse-style single-lever controls either
have a knob to disengage the shift cable, else you pull the lever
outwards. No different than inboards.

"Silvery" sounds modern - Honda seemed to delight in changing the
colour scheme every year or so. You'll find that Honda dealers will
have a huge chart on the wall showing the colour by year. Of course, a
dealer's first question will be the serial number (on the transom
bracket - left side looking aft).

A BF15A with elec start is highly regarded. They hold their value for
years.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll find the serial number and also have a look at
the shift cable mechanism...

I got mine mail order from Harefield Marina

Fast service and quite cheap I seem to remember.

which might push inwards for throttle only, as mine does.
