I just obtained a bound copy of "Marine Engineer" from 1906. It's the
editions of January to July.

I'm going to read the entire volume over the next couple of weeks, and if
I see any references to canals, I'll post a digest.

But until I do find something, does anyone want me to check specific
dates? There's no index for the entire volume, so I can't easily look
for subjects.

(Just flipping through it, some observations: the uniform for the Royal
Navy ratings was apparently a major national controversy; the Dreadnaught
was a fascinating thing of uncertain import and the impact of screw
propellers was still being discussed.)
