Hi Group,

I looking to backpack for around 7-9 days "approx 100 - 150 miles" in
a circular route from-to any Southern French or any Spanish airport.

I was planning the WHW at 26/3/09 but think going south might be a
better idea.

Is anyone aware of some good routes.

Thanks in advance

Gaz

Corsica ? GR20, Mare - Mare or Mare - Monte routes ? The GR20
may not be open by then but the M-M routes will be. Fly to Calvi and
use the local buses.

Have you considered a linear walk? A couple of rough ideas that
spring to mind, based on holidays I've had in the past, using Easyjet
and Ryanair.

I've flown to Nice, got a train up into the Alpes Maritimes, five days
walking based on GR4 including the Verdon Gorge, train to Aix-en-
Provence and flew back from Marseilles.

Also (though March might be too early even for the lower bits of the
Pyrenees). Fly to Biarritz, base yourself on GR10, and fly back from
Pau.

Needs a bit of research on local transport, but it's not difficult.
