Someone - and I have a funny feeling it might have been Billy Connolly, of
all people - did a thing about Inchkeith a few years ago.
I've wanted to take a look round ever since, as it looked sufficiently
awkward to get to as to be a bit less well-trodden than a lot of such
sites (and therefore hopefully a little less destroyed, looted, covered in
graffitti etc.)
cheers

Seems to be a bit of confusion between Inchkeith and Inchgarvie ...

Chris
subterranea britannica had a visit there about three years ago. Quite
interesting, esp the boat trip over & back in quite rough seas in a zodiac
(no not the old Vauxhall car!). Plenty of WW2 interest though nothing
significant underground, just partially buried.
The lighthouse was still in use and the guy who took us over there keeps it
serviceable.
We were told the island is owned by the boss of one of the car exhaust
companies - can't remember which one.
Using google earth and then "fly to" inchkeith gives good aerial views.
The RCAHMS has visited Inchkeith and resurveyed with new photographs
22 July 2009: Inchkeith, Firth of Forth
Images of Inchkeith in the Firth of Forth have recently been made available
to the public through our online database Canmore.
A RCAHMS survey team lead by David Easton had the rare opportunity to visit
the island earlier this year to record the remains of the military
structures as part of the 'Defence of Britain' project.
In addition to the many concrete buildings dating from the First and Second
World Wars, Inchkeith contains a Stevenson Lighthouse built in 1803, and the
remains of 16th century fortifications created when a French garrison was
stationed on the island.
To find out more about the survey go to the news section of our website.

Fascinating.
