OK. In history's timeliine it is time! Having been part of this
newsgroup for a year or three now, it is obvious to me that we all have
one thing in common. We are all right about everything!

So, I think it is time we took responsibility for ourselves. Sod all the
others.

Let us unite in cyberland and declare independence. We can become
self-sustaining, self-reliant, self-sufficient and... well... just
self-ish. We can grow our own food, brew our own beer, generate our own
elecktrickery, create our own interweb provider and pay our own
taxes.... to us!

OK, we don't need to take over a deserted island and form a commune, cos
if we all combined our respective bits of land and put them together, in
theory, in cyber terms we could then declare to the world that we have
become independent of everything that GB has to offer cos we now live in
(some collective word for a loads of gathered sheds.... I know...) The
Allotment!

So who's with me?

PS I don't actually own any land at all at all, mesself, but I am quite
willing to tell you what you should do with yours. After all we must
have a King, shirley? And it woz my idea.

Well back in the 80s a lot of people had this online community idea after BT
pulled the plug on Prestel. Its was called Silicon village.
It did not last that long.
Sadly.

For some reason reading your post I was reminded of Round the Horne with
King Gruntfuttock.

To be honest, I am reminded of him whenever I see e.g. Brian, or even
the cameroon.

... the hydrostatic paradox of controversy. Don't you know what that
means? Well, I will tell you. You know that, if you had a bent tube,
one arm of which was of the size of a pipe-stem, and the other big
enough to hold the ocean, water would stand at the same height in
one as in the other. Controversy equalizes fools and wise men in
the same way. And the fools know it. Oliver Wendell Holmes

Today being a certain 10 years' anniversary, I unforget the Shed being a
damn' sight righter than all the people who were trggvat cnvq to tell us
what was what.

(Not that we stood out from the crowd particularly in that respect).

If you're going to become King Shirley, I wannabe Minister of Fig Trees. The
fig leaf will become the new currency. If things get out of hand, I'll also
be Min of Napalm.

I'm not happy with this "Arise" idea. I've only just got comfortable.

Good thing too:

"I am a clone I am not alone
Every fibre of my flesh and bone
Is identical to the others
Everything I say is in the same tone
As my test tube brother's
Voice there is no choice between us
If you had ever seen us
You'd rejoice in your uniqueness
And consider every weakness
Something special of your own."

Many years ago, I read a biker's account of a trip to the low countries,
where they were initially puzzled by signs saying "Bofferding". Turns
out that it is a beer brand:

http://www.bofferding.lu/

and as such works extrememly well for such phrases as "Well, OK, but I'd
rather be bofferding", or "Oh dear, I got really boffered last night."
