After a freezing day off Weymouth last Sunday I need some new foul weather
gear.
Can anyone recommend a good retailer of foul weather gear? I am looking
for a good range without high prices.
Happy to drive a bit so anywhere in South East or South Coast would be fine.
Thanks in advance...
Julian
You could try the compass website www.compass24.com - at least for market
research. Some of their stuff is quite good for inshore work and pice
competitive.
Ollies are one thing that I wouldn't buy mail order. I like to try
them on - see what the cuffs and collars are like etc.

For my money ex - Royal Navy foul weather clothing takes some beating.
It's not pretty and has no inbuilt thermal insulation, but it's very
effective and often available dirt cheap from government surplus stores
or on ebay.

Neither do many current lines of expensive oilies. The idea is that the
oilies keep you dry and other clothing (expensive, no doubt) that you
wear underneath provides the insulation. Thus you can vary the amount of
warmth depending on the weather conditions.

Bought ours from compass , ordered online , got their own
"professional" range ,
verdict
Very comfortable
Very economical
as good as some of my occasional crew's designer ;) stuff
saved so much money I got two extra sets for non-equiped guests so
they don't look like the poor relations
