What is the best source on stock agencies? The listings in the Writer's and
Artists Yearbook are not very detailed and the list doesn't even appear very
complete.

Try to get hold of the Bureau of Freelance Photographers (BFP) Market
Handbook 2000 [ISBN 0-907297-50-1], it costs £13.95.

It has 36 pages dealing with agencies (list by category and then details
of individual agencies), the book also contains loads of useful info
about freelancing.

Either BAPLA - the British Assocation of Picture Libraries and Agencies -
Yearbook (Vine Hill, London) or the Bureau of Freelance Photographers
Yearbook (again, London) both in the phone book.
