I have not been a rider or long, but I am already suffering with a
negative associated with motorcycling - and it is something I never
envisaged - it ruins the whole experience for me.

I know this may sound quaint and traditional, but I like to ride
within the speed limit! (or rather, AT the speed limit) The trouble
is, that car/vans/trucks and buses don't want me to.

I am constantly attracting vehicles who want to hug my rear end as if
there is a giant magnet pulling us together.

My mind is full of dread. It was only around 2 months ago when a
rider went straight under a car in the Worthing area, and I saw
another accident with an motorcyclist being injured on the A2 last
week.

I know that it is unlikely, but my fear is that, for some reason I
will come off the bike, and that a following vehicle will go straight
over me.

I pull over, I wave them on, I wait till the traffic has past me - but
I WON'T SPEED.

Is it possible to use a motorcycle on British roads without speeding?

Any thoughts please?

If you're worried about getting hurt, then biking isn't for you. get a
car.

Why not ? sometimes a bit of gas is required to get out of a dangerous
situation.

Yes, but at the danger of getting rear-ended. Why not consider a safer
form of transport,

Paul.

You obviously have a gay motorcycle.
I suggest you trade it in for one less gay.

Buy any bike without fuel injection.

When some ignorant twat is sniffing your bum(per), flick kill switch
off, blip throttle, turn kill switch back on, all in one quick smooth
movement (i.e. don't blip the throttle and then flick the kill switch
back on 5 seconds later or nowt will happen).

With practise this will result in an enormously loud bang and a flame
about 2~3 feet long coming out of the exhaust straight at the vehicule
behind you.

I (used to) find this quite effective in getting people to back off.

Doesn't work with fuel injected bikes sadly.

Thanks Krusty. I do a rat run most mornings, and I see ALL the bikers
driving well over the speed limits (although this in iteslf doesn't
amount to dangerous driving) and I see many others who ARE quite
simply reckless beyond belief - not surprisingly earning the name
"organ doners", who leave no room for human error and placing sheer
trust in the hope that someone else will get them out of trouble if
things turn bad.

I appreciate that many other road users also drive recklessly, but of
course, a biker has far more to lose even in a minor prang.

I was interested to know if bikers in general have come to the
conclusion that it is dangerous to drive within the limits, because of
tail-gateing white van men etc. If this is so, then it's about time
the government did a little more to educate the masses about the
danger they put a biker in when they follow him/her so closely.

If we assume that motorcycling is for people who enjoy skilled safe
driving within the law, as well as people who like to test their
limits (as if they are at the fun fair), then more should be done to
accomodate the former.

The abusive posters in this thread are mostly cross dressing, hair
lipped, acne infested, turd arses and given their low intelligence, I
am surprised they don't fix baby stabilisers to their penis
replacement bendy bikes to keep themselves upright so their sweaty
testicles don't get mangled when they fall off their phallus. Having
said that, many are devout religious people with really well formed
opinions - not all of them are having sex with farm animals. I
totally respect their honest thoughts - much of which is emulated in
their self-sabotaging, ignorant riding style. We must not forget,
that some of them even managed to get insurance xx

I'll give it a 5. Maybe I'm too generous, but it was a creative use of

I dunno: I did manage one on my TL accidentally. I had an odd noise that I
wanted to isolate, so I filcked off the kill switch while entering a 30 limit
and got quite a shock when it backfired when I turned the ignition back on.

My gixer will do them reliably without even hitting the killswitch. I
just have to.hold an even throttle for a bit and then shut off.

The Tenere pops and bangs to itself when you slow down from med/high revs
but it's far from offensive.

The Duke woulod pop and bang on the overrun at 4k, but the gixer would

A crackle is nice, but the Ten's sound is more of a sort of pop-spit.
