be dismissed. If not, they shouldn't.

The BNP membership list seems to have been leaked by a disgruntled BNP
member, not by anyone on the left. As for `extremists', nobody on the
left has published this list with the implication that you should use
the information to intimidate people, as Redwatch does.
LOL
I think a good rule of thumb is: "If you're going to do something
you'd rather not have people discover, then don't do it."
Obviously it doesn't cover everything, and yes, leaking the list is
utterly reprehensible, but it's been interesting to find out how many
(actually, how few) there are in my neck of the woods.
What are the rules around what a policeman or soldier can be a member of
then? I don't much fancy a paid-up member of the BNP being a policeman
I must say. Nor any extreme party, come to think of it.

So I often hear people say: the people who publish people's personal
details with incitments to violence are just as bad as the people who
snigger at the publication (by a disgruntled Fascist) of the names and
addresses of Fascists. As for actual violence, rather than incitement
to it, the Fascists are a long way ahead on that one.

AFAIAA, a serving police officer is not allowed to be a member of the
BNP. They can be a member of any other political party, however
extreme.
Which seems a tad lop-sided to me, but hey-ho.

Section 71 of the race relations act place certain duties on employers.
I don't know any specific proscriptions for the police.
Not directly connected but we had this judgement from the ECHR:

I have seen it claimed that Queen's Regulations forbid membership of
the BNP but I have not been able to check it. I would find it hard to
believe that there is not a list of (legal) parties membership of
which is incompatible with being in the armed forces (Sinn Fein?).
Ah, thanks for that.

It doesn't seem unreasonable that all private businesses should exclude

TBF one might add membership of the current Conservative party too.
They can't be members of the BNP, NF or Combat18, AIUI.

'Public order' violence, as in the anti-globalisation demos, is a
completely different thing to violence and intimdation aimed at
individuals for their beliefs.
My understanding is different - QRs do not prohibit membership of any
political party, however participating in activities associated with a
political party (other than voting at election time) is verboten.

You're suspicious of people who have views as to how society should be
organised?
I joined around 94~95, when I just wanted to do something, anything,
to get the tories out.
I have problems with this. I am not one of nature's natural BNP
supporters but if they are a legit political organisation with
permission to rig elections just like the rest of them why shouldn't any
member of our society be free to join? Snot as if the BNP is one of
them prescribed parties is it?

So petty left-wing squabbling is equivalent to incitement to violence

Most public order type violence, in my limited experience, arises
because the police decide they want a fight (c.f. hunt protestors).
I suspect they can't (or Sinn Fein, for that matter). The relevant
phrase is `overthrow parliamentary democracy':
"An individual who...is a member of a subversive group...whose aims
are to undermine or overthrow parliamentary democracy by political,
industrial or violent means...is, or has recently been, sympathetic
to or associated with members or sympathisers of such organisations
or groups, in such a way as to raise reasonable doubts about his
reliability...is susceptible to pressure from such organisations or
groups".
Actually I think you are rather good at it so there is no need to do
yourself down.
It's a very sensible, environmentally responsible, attempt to both combat
redundancy and maintain individual focus. Having joined the Police force,
there is no *need* to join a second extremist, self-righteous, violent,
bigoted and stupid organisation.
There are, of course, the rare exceptions that prove the rule: (waves to
JP).
Cheeky!
