This would mean paying 200 pounds for an overnight stay - the zone
would operate 24/7 and cover the whole of Greater London, right out to
Abbey Wood and beyond. The charges are clearly aimed at businesses
running old trucks and buses etc, but motorcaravanners would be charged
too- from 2010 everything over 1.2 tonnes would be charged, virtually
every motorcaravan.

How much are the government being given by the vehicle manufacturers to do
this, so that companies have to go out and buy new ones? Why not get things
like the stupid expensive rail fairs down, so that if I wanted to go to
London, it would cost me less for two people than to take the car and park
for the day.
To be honest I have been London less than 6 times and have no plans to go
back unless I have to for some reason.
The definitions in the Annex 2 of the Order only seem to refer to vehicles
with "more than 8 seats in addition to the driver's seat" and vehicles
"designed and constructed for the carriage of goods".
This surely excludes the majority of motorhomes, many of which are likely to
be compliant anyway. It might catch bus/coach conversions, and some other
one-off commercial vehicle conversions.
