Ballasting
|
| |
Just about to start doing the ballasting on my now pinned down/laid model railway, I understand from research you need to mix 50/50 of Wood Glue and water?
Whats the best way to mix this? I dont want to make too much..
How do you measure it correctly etc etc, to make sure the consistancy is correct?... more »

Layout drawing software
|
| |
Once you have your layout mapped out/designed/pinned down and points all wired up for DCC, is there any good software (free or commercial) that allows you to put this in the computer/PC and then mark up points/turnouts (and dcc accessory numbers), signals (and dcc numbers) etc. ?
Now my layout is done and before I add scenery etc, I want to knock up... more »

Steam age breakdown train
|
| |
Folks,
Once I get the new layout up and running I fancy running a "Breakdown train"
and whilst I'm waiting for planning permission on the layout from SWHTBO
(she wants to convert the garage to a new bedroom!) I thought I could put
the necessary models together.
Before I start reaching for the sticky backed plastic though I thought it'd... more »

Zero 1 Known Faults? advice on Master/Micromimic Console
|
| |
Hiya
I am in the process of setting up a new layout using Hornby zero 1
kit. Since i have the kit its far cheaper than to go DCC at present.
I have an odd fault though with the Micromimic Control Console. It
does not respond to the key numbers as it should. Have two consoles
both do the same. Both have new batteries and PCB on one fully... more »

Hornby Accessory Decoders?
|
| |
I have a quick question on DCC accessory decoders, that hopefully has an easy answer.
On the Hornby Select, it will only expect/allow the start address from 61 onwards,
I am assuming that is because as an entry level/start DCC controller, the
addresses 1-59/60 are used for locomotives etc.
On the Hornby Elite, it makes references to the start accessory address... more »

Lighting and Signals
|
| |
As a newbie (well back into model railways again), I was wondering now with DCC, what is the best power supply feed/way to drive those devices (signals, lighting, and anything else that relies on) 12v DC power?
I have gone straight in to DCC and love it, however even though my intro to DCC via the Hornby Select and now using the Gaugemaster... more »

Kits
|
| |
I have been building some kits. I am not the most experienced railway
modeller in the world but I have built hundreds (literally: I was a
wargamer as a lad) of plastic vehicle kits in my time.
The Coopercraft AEC Monarch kit is a disappointment. Masses of flash,
average detailing, lack of lugs to aid assembly, runners in the... more »

Lighting and other non-DCC devices.
|
| |
As a newbie to DCC, is the voltage used on this generally AC?
And is it about 18v? Or have I been living on another planet…
Anyway my point or question is, that with a normal train controller (Select, Elite, GaugeMaster etc), there are certain things that need still 12v DC supply, signals, maybe some lighting etc, what is the... more »
