I am decorating the kitchen at present, the walls have a thick paper in a
deep yellow colour.

If I wanted to colour the radiator in the same how could I do it?

What are your thoughts on colour matching radiators. (I think it just
stands out too much, white against deep yellow)

I have seen some in restaurants / pubs etc and think they look good /
different.

I know you can buy specific paint for radiators , but I always paint mine in
the same gloss as I'm using in the rest of the room .I feel the same as you
, in that , white radiators look very stark and they're not really a feature
I like to highlight .So far I've never had any problems with bubbling or
peeling , and obviously I make sure the radiator is cold before I paint it!

Ive tried gloss and eggshell and both work reasonably if you sand them
thoroughly to get a decent key for the paint. I have had best results
though using Hammerite with a gloss roller. One thinned coat and then
two unthinned. You get a much more robust finish and it looks
terrific.

We've just painted our kitchen a dark mustard yellow - we felt that white
would stand out too much - We brought satinwood in the same dulux shade - if
you have trouble matching - Dulux will help

Personally I don't have a problem with white ones, painting them the
same colour somehow doesn't hide them for me. If I was doing it I'd be
tempted to paint them the same colour as the woodwork, or something like
that.

You can use ordinary gloss/eggshell paint. If you want to colour match
it, ISTR B&Q, and no doubt other places offer a paint - matching
service, but I've never used it.

Thanks, for the help.

The walls have been papered in a yellow mustard colour. How would I go
about matching this?
Can B&Q/Dulux make up a colour from the wallpaper (an off cut of course!)

The skirting will be white, together with other woodwork.

I suppose if I don't like it I could always paint over with white gloss.

Is radiator paint special? if so in what way?

Dulux I think. I seem to remember seeing the dog in the adverts
somewhere

I would like to have a go at painting a radiator green to match the bathroom
suite. But I am a bit concerned that in time
the colour will turn a bit yellow. Has anyone painted a radiator the same
colour as the woodwork, and after, say, a year, does the colour still match
the woodwork?

Why would green turn to yellow?
(a good primer could would help prevent this, methinks)

Can I wallpaper my radiator - to get an exact match?

Will this work? Will I need special paste?

I think that when you switch the radiator on the wallpaper will get hot and
may well go on fire.
That would possibly mean then end of you and your home.
Not a good idea in my books.

(Assuming wet CH radiators )Radiators run at about 60 - 80 C, not really
hot enough to cause paper to combust.

But I'd have thought that getting a neat finish would be difficult, and
that the paper would peel and discolour.

And IMHO it would look awful from the beginning :-)

But YMMV.

Painting to match the woodwork or something seems a better idea.

I am still not convinced which is the best way to go.

My dilemma is that the wood work will be boring white, and I do not want the
rad to be white (it is white now and as discussed it looks odd against the
wallpaper)

The wallpaper is yellow with a slightly darker texture to it. (I think
getting a colour match would be fun!)

I still have a week or so before I get round to "dealing" with the
radiator...
