Very poor maps designed by a blind watchmaker. Enlarge a view of
MapPoint map... oh look the captions remain in tiny unreadable type. It
doesn't matter how much the view is enlarged, street names, motorway
junction numbers and road numbers will remain tiny and largely
unreadable. The base maps themselves are also poor quality, not a patch
on Ordnance Survey or Admiralty Charts. And what's this fetish that
Microsoft have about pubs and shopping centres?

Not under any version of Mapsource that I have tried.

Yes, I suspect that like all Microsofties you can't see wood for trees.

And? It's still rubbish.

So of the maps you get for free it's the best one, eh?
> Have you found any software for it yet?
Lots, you'll see poor quality imitations of it produced by Microsoft. I
believe they've just launched another one this week... It's like OSX
except it's broken, ugly and designed by dimwits for dimwits to use.
I don't see the connection here between Garmin MapSource and Microsoft
AutoRoute (or MapPoint). Map font size is user-adjustable in AutoRoute (and
MapPoint), exactly as described above.

Navteq / Teleatlas are the top two map data providers. I'm not aware of more
reliable source of navigable map data, are you?
