I am using Anquet mapping software on my Asus A696 PDA. In general I find
this very useful.

However, the issue I have is that when I am walking slowly my actual and
displayed position can be lagged by as much as 150 metres. I understand
that this is a feature known as Static Navigation.

A search of the web suggests that SirfTech software can be used to toggle
this off and on.

Has anybody used this software successfully preferably on an Asus A696 or,
if not, on any PDA with an in-built SiRF III GPS chip?

I understand that there may be other software to switch Static Navigation
off and on. Has anybody used any which works on an Asus A696?

I have already checked with Asus and they are unable to help.

Anybody got any other ideas?

Thanks

Hi,

I've only just subscribed to this group so haven't been slow replying.

You're right some of the chipsets do have a static navigation feature.
The idea is to prevent the reported position wandering about when a
car is stopped at traffic lights, etc.

I've got documentation at work so if you need data I may have it.

However you've probably already sorted the issue or lost interest ;-)
