<Can anyone please tell me if any current Satnavs can find
<a location using British Nation Grid reference as used on
<UK Ordnance Survey maps?
<The only one I know that does this is the Garmin 550 but
<I don't need a multi-purpose ultra-robust model and can't
<justify the very high price of these units.
<The reason I need this is that I walk with several groups
<who set the walk start point as a Grid Reference. The meet
<points are usually out in the wilds somewhere and don't
<have addresses or even Postcodes, so a Satnav that can locate
<by BNG would be perfect for me.
<Thanks in advance
1 If you used a PDA you could load that with MemoryMap and thence 50k or 25k OS maps -
you can set it to show pos'n in lat/long or BNG - however, it won't guide you there.
2 Use an online conversion app (loads if you Google) of BNG to lat/long. Then use that in TomTom.
3 Surely the walk organiser has given a rough idea of where the walk starts - this should get you onto the appropriate OS
paper sheet to then locate the reference? Then use the map to get there!
