Managed a max of 5C today but most of the time it's been hovering around
1C, wind about F5 so chill is between -10 and -15C.

Sleet this morning, snow line only just above us. During the brighter
sunnier bits of the day that rose to maybe 1700'. Crossfell, when we can
see it, is well white and the ridge along to Hartside.

Frost isn't the evil that it is often claimed to be, and it is
just part of the annual cycle in most parts of the UK. It's
now November, and frost now can't be called unseasonal. I agree
that, in the milder areas, the gardens aren't adapted to much
frost, but anything I grow here has to be able to take it.

We've had a monumental amount of rain last night/this morning and
puddles lie on the patio and round my posts and the hanging baskets I am
supposed to be making up. Oh good .. it's started raining again.

Not too bothered here Baz as my garden slopes slightly towards patio
When water mounts up too high it will actually all go down large manhole
cover! We also live at the TOP of the hill even though at the bottom,
The Misbourne Valley does flood all the way along.

Postcode wise it looks as if we are in a flood plain but that doesn't
take into account the fact that we are some way above it.

Snow before frost is always a problem, because some deciduous trees
still have leaves on.

Snow in the Yorkshire Dales yesterday.

I normally expect the odd flurry of snow in November but have always
lived east or N of where you are now, Sacha. I have a strong memory of a
Remembrance Day parade where our bit of parade came to a stop in the
middle of a 6 inch deep patch of snow from a snowfall earlier in the
week that was in Worcestershire. And runner beans were always frosted
before Bonfire Night.

If anything, it's been the last dozen or so years that have been out of
kilter - I have still got nasturtiums in flower, and they're usually
quite early to be hit.

My birthday is in mid/late November, and it's normally snowed approx 1
in 3 birthdays (including, apparently, the day I was born). Which seems
a lot more frequent than Christmas snow.

John hooked his laptop up to the TV, so that I could watch BBC Alba last

I couldn't do without my laptop, but to be perfectly honest, I very

side of Swansea bay.
